Treasury Stock

Treasury Stock are stock buybacks. When a company purchases back its own stock, the amount is recorded on the Balance Sheet as Treasury Stock. Great companies tend to have Treasury Stock. Because of their enormous earnings power, they are able to reduced the number of outstanding shares by purchasing back their own stock. When the number of outstanding shares are reduced, the Earnings Per Share increases, thus making the remaining stock more valuable.
